Emepitant 5 mg is a potent substance P receptor antagonist designed to prevent severe chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) and reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in adult patients. As an antiemetic, Emepitant works by blocking neurokinin‑1 (NK1) receptors in the brain’s emetic center, providing sustained relief for up to 72 hours following chemotherapy or surgical procedures.
Taken orally, Emepitant is typically administered one hour prior to chemotherapy or at the induction of anesthesia, then continued once daily. Common side effects include fatigue, hiccups, and mild headache. Always follow your healthcare provider’s dosing schedule to maximize efficacy and minimize adverse events.
